Calamosca is a beach in the municipality of Cagliari, located about 4 km from the city center. The beach is located in the middle of a small cove bounded by a rocky shore to the west and the Sant'Elia hill to the east.
Nearby stands the homonymous Calamosca tower, built by the Spanish in the 17th century as part of the anti-Barbary corsair defense system of the Gulf of Cagliari. At the end of the 18th century there was an attack by the French as part of the French expedition to Sardinia.
